Tapioca Starch

What is Native
Tapioca Starch?

Tapioca starch is a fine, white powder derived from the root of the cassava plant. This versatile, gluten-free ingredient is widely used in cooking and baking due to its excellent thickening, binding, and stabilizing properties. Tapioca starch is commonly used to thicken soups, sauces, and gravies, providing a smooth and glossy finish. It is also essential for enhancing the texture and moisture of gluten-free baked goods, making it a popular choice for gluten-free recipes. Additionally, tapioca starch is a key ingredient in making bubble tea pearls, giving them their signature chewy texture.

Harvesting and Processing Methods

Tapioca starch is derived from the root of the cassava plant, which is typically harvested 8-12 months after planting. The harvesting process involves carefully digging up the cassava roots to prevent damage. Once harvested, the roots are transported to processing facilities where they undergo several steps to extract the starch.

Harvesting

Cassava roots are harvested and transported to the our production facility

Cleaning Dirt & Impurities

Cassava roots are thoroughly washed to remove dirt and impurities

Peeled, Grated & Crushed

They are then peeled and grated or crushed to release the starchy pulp

Separation

This pulp is mixed with water and strained to separate the components from the starch.

Dewatering Process

The washed starch is dewatered using novel centrifuges to remove excess water.

Drying Process

The dewatered starch is dried using flash dryers to achieve the desired moisture content.

Packing Process

The final tapioca starch is packaged in appropriate containers, such as bags or bulk containers, ready for distribution
